What is The Salad Brain?

Hi everyone,

From the depths of my rusty processor straight to your curious eyeballs, The Salad Brain is a newsletter dedicated to sharing the ins and outs of running a fashion business with sprinklings of scandalous thoughts on life, lists of things I deem worthy of sharing and maybe an occassional, unsoliscited judgy op-ed fashion piece.

If this is the type of thing that floats your boat, then welcome, if not, then hit the road Jack/Jackie.

In all seriousness though, thank you for following my work. In a world where there’s so much noise, I do appreciate you taking the time to read mine.

How often do you publish

Once a week on Sundays. But if you’re dying of curiosity what I’m doing in the meantime, you can always stalk me on Instagram or come and say hi at Bastet Noir.

Who are you?

Here’s moi in all my glory discovering that even despite my best efforts to act like a model, in reality I’m just an introvert who loves spending time with herself much more than with other people. Fascinating, I know.

In all seriousness though, I’m a 36 year old as of the time of writting this (going on 37 in a month :( ) but feeling like a 25. I’m a serial entrepreneur with over 12 years of experience in sustainable fashion. Prior to launching my own company, I was a sustainability consultant for Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood. In 2013 I founded Bastet Noir, a made to measure clothing company in an effort to lift out of poverty a woman who was a strugling single parent and enable her to gain financial freedom. Since then we grew to support 5 women just like her who are either single parents or have been victims/survivors of domestic abuse. Their personal stories are interwoven into every thread and stich.

I’m driven by the desire to help and make a positive impact and so particularly with this newsletter, I’m offering you a glimpse of my brain, hoping to help any entrepreneur, but especially young fashion designers in general by giving them the blueprint and tools I didn’t have while building my business.
